The victim, identified as Ruthvi, was a student of Gurunanak School and a resident of Gadikushanur village.

According to preliminary police investigations, the school bus had halted near the police quarters in Janawada to drop her off. Family members and residents have accused the driver of gross negligence and are demanding strict legal action. The incident has sparked nationwide concern over school transportation safety, driver accountability, and the urgent need for stricter guidelines to prevent such avoidable tragedies.

Locals allege that despite repeated complaints about school vehicle mismanagement, authorities failed to intervene. The death of Ruthvi has now intensified calls for mandatory safety checks, trained bus drivers, and child safety protocols on school buses across Karnataka.
