Pune Man’s “Drishyam-Inspired” Murder Plot Exposed

In a chilling Pune case straight out of a thriller, 38-year-old Anjali Jadhav — a school teacher — was allegedly murdered by her husband, Sameer Jadhav, who then tried to destroy all traces of the crime and mislead police.

According to investigators, Sameer took Anjali to a rented warehouse on October 26, pretending to show her a new workspace. There, he strangled her, burned her body in a furnace he had built beforehand, and scattered the ashes in a nearby river. Their two children were away in their village for Diwali at the time.

To cover up the murder, Sameer filed a missing person complaint and repeatedly visited the police station, pretending to be a worried husband. He even used his wife’s phone to send romantic messages to another man — replying to them himself — to make it seem like she was having an affair.

But his overacting backfired. Police grew suspicious of his behavior, checked CCTV footage, and found inconsistencies in his statements. During questioning, he confessed to the crime and admitted that he had planned it after watching Drishyam several times.

The case, initially registered at the Warje Malwadi Police Station, has now been transferred to Rajgad Police for further investigation.
