Two sub-inspectors in Davanagere, Karnataka — Malappa Chippalakatte and Praveen Kumar — have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a jewellery artisan of gold.
According to the complaint, the officers stopped Vishwanath Arakasali, who was carrying a 76g gold bar and a 2.15g ring. They forced him into a vehicle, threatened him, and took the gold before dropping him back at the bus stand.
Police have also arrested two others — Satish Revannavar and Nagaraj Revalkar — for assisting in the crime. A car and a fake gun used in the operation have been seized.
The case has raised concerns as it follows other recent crimes involving law enforcement personnel in Karnataka.
